General Description of Hotel Pensione
Ferretti Florence Location
The Pensione Ferretti boasts an envious position in the heart of
the historical centre of Florence. Located only minutes
walk from the beautiful square of Santa Maria Novella which
contains the famous church by the same name, the loggia di San Paolo
(a much heralded 1489 copy of the earlier Loggia degli Innocenti
by Brunelleschi in 1429), not to mention the train station which
is only 5-10 minutes walk away making the Hotel Ferretti ideal accommodation
for those seeking a budget bed and breakfast within walking distance
of the station. Finally, our hotel is located in a small winding
side street called the Via delle Belle Donne, which
means street of the beautiful women... all of Florence's most important
attractions, monuments and museums are only minutes walk away including
Duomo Florence Cathedral and Giotto's Bell Tower (5 minutes), Ponte
Vecchio (13 minutes), Uffizi Art Gallery (15 minutes), Michelangelo's

By car
From the A1 motorway or highway, in Italian known as the "Autostrada
del Sole", take the first exit to Florence Centre "Firenze
Centro" and then follow the signs for Santa Maria Novella Railway

By train
The Santa Maria Novella train tation is only 200 metres from the
Pensione Ferretti. You can easily reach our Bed and Breakfast in
a 5-10 minute walk: simply get off train and take the left hand
exit from the station, take the underpass to Santa Maria Novella
and then proceed into the square. Take Via degli Avelli, by staying
on the left hand side of the square, Santa Maria Novella Church
and Basilica should be behind you., take Via Belle Donne and our
Pensione Ferretti is right there!!!!
By airplane
The Firenze-Amerigo Vespucci airport is approximately 9 km away.
Take the Firenze Airport Shuttle bus SITA “vola in bus”
which is rather contradictory statement which means fly in bus,
nevermind. Anyway, proceed to the Santa Maria Novella railway station
and follow the directions given above under "By Train".
If you arrive at Pisa Airport i.e. with Ryanair then we suggest
you take the Terravision shuttle bus as it is cheap and pretty quick.
Barring that please use the train service from Pisa to Florence
which is regular and is the best form of transport for those travelling
on a low to medium budget. NB remember to stamp your train ticket
in the machines provided otherwise the train guard might fine you!!!
Did You Know?
The Square of Santa Maria Novella is the biggest square in Florence
and was enlarged several times to accommodate the masses who used
to arrive here daily in the 1200's to listen to Dominican Monks
tell stories and preach... due to it's enormous size it was also
used to host the "Palio dei Cocchi" the
annual Florence Chariot Race... nowadays it is just a lovely piazza
where you can hang out and "people watch" knowing full
well that your budget accommodation in Florence the Pensione Ferretti
